blue squirrel

after a self-imposed 20 year absence from cycling, the sport i love, i am back and dedicated to holding my own in the superfast 40+ catagory. this blog will tell the journey, the highs and the lows, the team [team becher+] and it's cast of characters, our sponsors, supporters, and other local riders that make it happen... NICE PRODUCTION

i have never been a big fan of team cofidis,

1] their french
2] they never really seemed to exude passion while racing, at least to me.

they were always that huge french team that didn't win. but if the whole french cycling culture, as i am to believe it through tons of propaganda, is now dope free and the riders are riding clean, than i am starting to take an interest in them and feel a connection to the underdog, that is if they are truly riding clean. if it turns out just to be a media campaign, than i am going back to ignoring them.

so back to cofidis, they have a new image this year, with a mostly all red kit [tim will love that, since i think he has always loved their kit designs anyway, even though their arm warmers are the same color this year] and really well produced video of the team. if anything, they got the whole media thing right this year.

DAILY ESPRESSO

what may you ask does this beautiful woman have to do with a] cycling and b] espresso, well my minions, she is the one and only Italian nescafe model, federica fontana. she was the presenter at the liquigas 07 team presentation. that's right, proof once again that cycling and espresso are one in the same. it hurts how you doubted me...

1998 Giro d'Italia - Stage 19

[not the greatest picture, but what a climb by pantani, miss you il pirata]

DAILY ESPRESSO

this would be the first installment of the DAILY ESPRESSO, [said witha bama' accent] cause if you ain't got a daily [?], than you just ain't blogging. so i will attempt to enforce the undying underlying cohesive non corrosive bond between 'cafe and bicycle racing, not to mention the fact that it tastes really good and i love it. i love it so much i don't intend on quitting, even if all the swedish studies on coffee say how good it is [the swedes drink more coffee per person than any other country, as in an average of 8 cups a day], wait that is a reason to drink it, well anyway i am sure that there is a bad report on coffee consumption somewhere. i am just not going to risk the excruciating, debilitating headaches that comes with quitting, and no i am not hooked on espressoooo, i am simply an espresso freak, so shut up.
